On this page you will find my Rug Hookings- My Art- My expression to the world with wool fibers and yarn.
What is a Rug Hooking?
Rug hooking is both an art and a craft where rugs are made by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a stiff woven base such as burlap, linen, or rug warp. The loops are pulled through the backing material by using a crochet-type hook mounted in a handle for leverage. In contrast latch-hooking uses a hinged hook to form a knotted pile from short, pre-cut pieces of yarn.
How to use a Hooked Rug?
Hooked rugs can come in all shapes and sizes. They can be an actual rug, they can be a wall hanging, a table runner, decoration for a shelf, a table, or a counter. You could use one in ceremony, as I have made several for herbalists who practice cacao ceremony.
What can be created on a hooked rug?
I can work with any picture. If someone gives me a few photos, I will make a sketch or two first for the commissioner to chose from. I do not make hyper-realistic art. My images are recognizable, but because of the strip size I use, they are a little Impressionistic.
