About Sheep Hill Herbs
Sheep Hill Herbs is a creative and faith-centered space where art and herbal wisdom come together for healing. The name carries deep meaning- "Sheep" reflects being shepherded by Father God and tended by Jesus, the Good Shepherd. It also honors the wool I use in my hand-hooked rugs, crafted as expressions of beauty and peace. "Hill" connects both to my husband's name and the place where I grew up, grounding the work in family and home. "Herbs" represents God's medicine- His provision for healing body, mind and spirit.

Through art, classes, and herbal teachings, I share the ways to restore balance and draw closer to God's creation. My offerings include original rug hookings, Youtube videos, and the Advanced Home Herbalist course, as well as selected mentorship opportunities. All of this is designed to inspire others to create, learn, and heal naturally under God's guidance.

Nestled in the quiet beauty of Main Street Oley PA, and Historic preserved farmland, Sheep Hill Herbs creates fine handcrafted rugs using the timeless art of rug hooking. Each piece is a labor of love- rooted in craftsmanship, inspired by history and made entirely by hand in the USA. Herb classes are taught bi-weekly in person, and the Advanced Home Herbalist Course is open year-round.

About Jenel Schaffer
Jenel has a B.A. in Anthropology, an Art Education K-12 teaching license, a B.A. in Herbalist Medicine, an MS in Herbal Medicine. She is a Master Herbalist, Master Aromatherapist and Ordained Health and Healing Minister. She recently completed her PhD in Herbal Medicine with Kingdom University of Natural Medicine (accredited by the AADP). With over 20 years' experience in the arts and with plants, Jenel is also a wife and mother of 5 children, a wise woman, shaped and formed by the Creator's hands. She is a person who brings warmth, kindness, and hope to others. She has grace expressed through empathy and forgiveness as she has learned what it means to be loved and forgiven of much.

Each rug I create is more than a piece of art- it is a woven prayer, a symbolic work of devotion made with wool, intention and faith. Every loop pulled through the backing carries meaning. I design my rugs as visual prayers- pieces that speak a blessing and remembrance into a space.

Whether displayed on a wall, laid on the floor, or hung like something from the tabernacle, each work holds a story. It may reflect a journey of healing, a marriage strengthened, or a verse that anchors the soul.

I believe art can be sacred- a way to bring heaven's beauty into the ordinary places of life. My rugs are symbols of prayer and presence- meant to invite peace, reflection and God's nearness into the home.

A Personal Journey

My journey with rug hooking began as a quiet pursuit, introduced to me by a dear older friend. It became a way to connect with the past while creating something enduring. Over time, it became a calling. With every rug I create, I am to carry on a tradition that speaks to both the heart and the hand.
