Who Am I- by the way?, I am Jenel Calendula Schaffer- Artist & Herbalist, owner of Sheep Hill Herbs LLC. I have a Masters of Science degree in Herbal Medicine from Kingdom University of Herbal Medicine in Texas. I am also a certified Herbalist with the School of Natural Healing in Utah (a Dr. Christopher student), as well as a former student of Rosemary Gladstar's "The Science and Art of Herbology," and an on-going student of plants. I have 24 years of personal study, research and daily application as well as countless hours of time and experience using herbs for myself, my community and my family.

I consider myself a natural healer. I define natural- as relying on plant remedies and medicines from nature for health and well being. I believe that God, gave us the herbs for our food and to handle illness, and stress in all body systems.

Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed: to you it shall be for food.

As an Artist I aim to help people get in touch with who they are creatively speaking, and as an Herbalist, to teach people how to listen to the messages their body is telling them, as well as to educate people on the many nutritional modalities available in their food choices, with the special addition of herbal medicines.

My own personal herb story began as a young girl helping my mother in one of her many gardens. She had a special way connection to nature and her gardens have been praised by many, over the years. I took further interest in plants while working in a greenhouse and on a farm. During college I worked at an herb shop, but it wasn't until a personal health crisis that herbs became my life.

After my body gave out on me in my early 20's, run down from poor dietary habits, poor sleep habits, many rounds of antibiotics, stress, and just a complete disconnect to the messages I had been receiving, I was called to the field of herbalism. My study began in earnest and I have step-by-step rebuilt my physical body, as well as tended to my personal garden through the much study, art, music, nature and the beauty of life. Herbs have given me back my health! They worked when nothing else would. Plants taught me and allowed my spirit to heal while they gradually improved my life organs. I trusted in plants because I knew they were created for a purpose. It wasn't enough for me to know plant names and chemical constituents and properties, I listened to what plants were saying and how they were calling to me. Like my mother, I have an innate ability with herbs and nature and I try to be sensitive to what herbs will be best for each person I help.

My approach is a loving approach. I have been taught in the Dr. Christopher method that includes many dietary extremes and fasting challenges. Although there are times to apply such measures, I am more of a gentle herbalist, interested in loving a person to health. I believe in loving others like I would want to be loved. Plants are a loving gift to us by a loving Creator, and I like to approach healing in that way.
